Safety

Child safety

EduMate is used mostly by children. Keeping them safe comes before everything else we build.

How the tutor keeps conversations safe

  • The tutor is instructed to stay on learning and to answer in a way that suits the student's age.
  • Messages are checked automatically. Worrying messages are flagged for review by the school or by our team.
  • If a student seems to be in danger or distress, the tutor encourages them to talk to a trusted adult, and the message is flagged.

Parental controls

  • See your child's activity, quiz scores and study time.
  • Approve or change the weekly study plan.
  • Set a daily study time limit, or pause access.
  • Decide whether your child has their own login.

Study groups and live classes

Group chats and live classes are moderated. Students can only join groups by invitation code, and teachers run live classes.

Report a concern

If you see something worrying, use the contact page and choose “Safety concern”, or message us on WhatsApp. We respond to safety reports the same day.

If a child is in immediate danger, contact the Ghana Police Service or the Domestic Violence and Victim Support Unit (DOVVSU) right away.
